  • Do you know what the death rate around here is?

    Answer: One per person.

Its a frightening world, I know. Even more so if one considers that the death penalty is on the rise all over.

Death is final and no human being deserves an untimely death. The mere possibility for sentencing an innocent man to death should be reason enough to abolish the cruel and medieval death penalty.

According to amnesty international China is by far the worst sinner in this sad field of human rights violation. With the outrageous number of 3.400 human lives taken China carry out more death penalties than all other countries combined. Iran is second with 159, followed by Vietnam with 64. The US is number 4 on the list with 59 executions in 2004.

The UK director of amnesty international, Kate Allen, calls the figures from China “genuinely frightening”.

How many innocent people was sentenced to death and executed in 2004? 1%, 2% or 3%? What is the margin of error in this field?

Would you still accept the death penalty if you where an innocent man sentenced to death?’

  • Not Pr0n – Riddle this!

Riddle me a riddle. If you think you are too smart for your own good and have a time on your hands then just maybe you are the “not pr0n” riddle worthy. Up until now some 650000 have tried but only 32 people have reached the final step so far.

  • No declaration of tenderness

The little girl expects no declaration of tenderness from her doll.

  • Torture as the doctrine of war in Iraq

In reality its only the horrible nature of man that’s revealed in war. Is civilisation not always preceded or followed by barbaric chaos?

The English army in Iraq can apparently not escape the accusations of mistreatment and torture of the Iraqi people.

The many examples of torture in Iraq raises an important question: Will war, even if it involves civilised countries, always be followed by torture? Should there be an acceptance of torture as a immanent part of the evil of war?

Would we as human beings be ready accept such an answer to torture in Iraq or anywhere else?

  • H. S. Thompson sent him self to Paradise

We where somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the dessert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive…” And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about a hundred miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming: “Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?”

The Author of the brilliant psychedelic classic “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” Hunter S. Thompson died today.

I vividly remember the journey into Hunter S. Thompsons land of drugs and madness. The atmosphere was cool and fogy. My mind where soon bending and twisting just in order to keep up with the events in the book. Sentences like “The trunk of the car looked like a mobile police narcotics lab.” where after a short while just describing the ordinary. After reading Hunter S. Thompson I felt exhilarated; and in great need of some kind of fix. Sadly I ended up with an emotional cold turkey. But dear reader, surely it’s worthwhile literary acid trip. Peace out brother.
